We went camping again up near Boone at Ledges State park. It was a very fun place, and is our new favorite place to camp. While we were there, we couldn't resist taking a little detour and heading over to the Boone Scenic Valley Railroad. We took a ride on a real train! Brynlee loved it! It was about 2 hours long, which was a little too long for Noah. But they did great. The train cars have open windows so you can look out at the scenery. You only go about 5 miles an hour, so it is completely safe. Noah decided to throw his binkie out the window half way into the ride and wanted to go back and get it! Probably the most impressive part was going over Bass Creek High bridge. It is 156 feet high, and 754 feet long. Pretty impressive, especially for someone like me who is afraid of heights.

Our engine!

Brynlee just loved it!

This was while we were camping. Noah wants a big bike. He doesn't care for his little tricycle, but every time Brynlee's bike is available he hops right on.

Playing in the water at Ledges

It was a pretty eventful camping trip. Jon came down with strep throat the beginning of the trip, but he was a trooper and toughed it out for us. We also had sever storms pass through camp. Luckily we were prepared, and tarped over our tent, and under as well. We didn't even get wet. We did have a raccoon problem. It was the same night as the storms. Jon and I had just fallen asleep after the storm passed, and heard something outside our tent. Because of the storm, we had moved our cooler under the tarp. I heard it open and I knew the Raccoons were up to no good. I went out and sure enough they had pulled out the eggs. Surprisingly enough, they hadn't broken any. We put a bungee cord around the cooler and then put a large plastic bag full of stuff on top of it. It wasn't even a half hour later, and we heard a 'snap'. Those smart little buggers had gotten off the bungee. We yelled out at them, and scared them away, so we thought. We both fell asleep at that point. I think they were desperate for food because all the dumpsters had been emptied that day. All night long, I could hear them rummaging through all the camps. The next morning we discovered they had helped themselves to some bananas and a tomato. But that was it. We lucked out. Our neighboring camp was not so lucky. They basically got all their food. That about wraps it up. Another fun camping trip in Iowa!
